This week has been hard. I returned to work yesterday after 12 weeks of maternity leave and it was SOOOOO tough!! I think the days leading up to going back to work were actually harder than the day I left him. Every time Josh would smile at me, I was thinking "what am I going to do when I can't play with him all day and see all of his gummy grins?" Every time he would cry I would think "nobody else knows what to do to make my little guy happy again like his mommy!" Needless to say, there have been lots of tears cried this week! I think I did very well yesterday though. I cried off and on while I got ready for work and a little in the car on the way there, but then I was fine once I got to the hospital. Then, I had an awesome surprise! The floor wasn't super busy, so I got to leave after only 5 hours of work!!! I should have known God had a plan for getting me through my first day back! As sad as I am about going back to work and leaving Joshua, I am extremely blessed to have been given a son that I love so much I can't stand to leave and also to be able to work part-time so that I can spend a lot of time with my family!
My husband and mom have been incredible this week and I definitely couldn't have gotten through it without them! Thank you Andrew for being an amazing dad to Josh and for being supportive of me! Mom, thank you so much for being willing to watch Josh for me. I couldn't have left him with anyone else yesterday! You are a wonderful mother and now a wonderful Nana as well!
(Ha! It sounds like I just won an award and am giving a speech! Seriously though, my family is a huge blessing!)

Sleep!!!
Josh has started sleeping more at night!! For the past 5 nights, Josh has only woken up once each night. One night, he actually slept 7 hours and 45 minutes! Andrew and I are thrilled! It couldn't come at a better time since I am returning to work next week. Sleep is a wonderful thing! :)

2 months old!!
It's official...my little man isn't so little anymore! Josh was 2 months old on September 4th. It's hard to believe. The time has flown by! I took him to the doctor yesterday for his 2 month check-up. He was 12 pounds 5 ounces and 25 inches long (95th percentile!). I don't know where all this height is coming from (definitely not me or Andrew), but the doctor says he is probably just doing all his growing early. The doctor was impressed with how strong Josh is and told us he would be surprised if Josh wasn't at least pulling up on things by 9 months. I guess I better start thinking about baby proofing the house! Josh had to get 2 shots. He whimpered through them...it was pitiful, but we survived it!
In addition to getting bigger, here are other things my little man has been up to this past month:
In addition to getting bigger, here are other things my little man has been up to this past month:
- He met my best friend, Emily and his best bud, Ben!
- He met his great-grandmomma (this pic is of 4 generations!).
- smiling (He smiles ALL the time, especially when Andrew or I talk to him. I just love this big gummy grin!)
- He loves to stand up. He shoots his legs out and insists that we let him stand on our legs. He is strong and can hold up his head and support his weight!
- We are sleeping a little bit better these days (not much better, but we are greatful for whatever we can get!) He has started sleeping 6 hour stretches every once and a while. Hopefully that will become more regular. While that might not sound too impressive, he had been enjoying getting up to eat every 3 hours at night before this!
- Josh loves to play. He smiles and talks to the butterflies on his play mat! He has started grasping rattles and enjoys looking at colorful books. He also loves to kick in his bouncy seat.
- He gets cuter and cuter every day and we love him more than we ever thought possible!
